Flow n Flux is a new discussion group which invites collective thinking and works to build a community within the CHASE Feminist Network. Held once a month, each workshop will explore a different theme and include a selection of texts, videos, and/or music as a stimulus for discussion.
We engage with feminist consciousness raising pratices, sharing personal experiences in order to reflect on structural power within society and explore where feminist hope lies. Each week will incorporate participatory exercises, ranging from crafts to theatre to writing. However, everyone is free to be involved with as much or as little as they feel comfortable!
For January’s Flow n Flux meeting we will be looking at the differences between gender and sex; critically reflecting on gender expression and stereotypes associated with gender and sex; and creatively interogating performance as a tool for representation and exploration of gender.
In preparation we would like you to reflect on your thoughts around the texts and links listed below. However, we would like to emphasise that you are still more than welcome to attend even if you are unable to engage with the works below in advance of the session.
